WindReach Farm strives to enrich the lives of persons of all ages with disabilities and/or special needs by providing opportunities to enjoy experiences in farming, nature, outdoor recreation & other activities and to share those experiences with family and friends.
Day Visitor's Program
Boardwalk
serve2006.jpg The boardwalk is built around the WindReach marsh.  This raised area allows visitors to experience life in a wetland.  In the spring you can hear the frogs, summer see the many different birds, and fall see the animals getting ready for the winter, winter you can see the different tracks.


 
Children's Centre
Childrencentre.jpg The Children's Centre is located beside the Visitor's Centre.  
The Children’s Centre can be used as a lunch space and an area
to do additional activities.
 
Farm Tour
  Our tour guides will introduce our furry farm friends to our visitors.
Visitors have the opportunity to pet and feed the animals.  Groups are provided with special food for our farm friends, there is not a need to bring some. The animals that are included on the tour include goats, sheep, donkeys, alpacas, poultry and cows.

Museum Tour
Museum.JPG Visitors can take a visit to the past in the upper part of the main barn.  Here you will find many farm implements from days gone by.  Groups can also learn about wool in the “sheep to sweater” demonstration.  We also have a living bee hive that groups can get up close and personal with.

 
Nature Trail
Pond to pond trail WindReach Farm's trail will help to bring new freedom and access to all visitors, regardless of age and/or special abilities, while preserving the natural beauty of the Farm. The trail will open up the entire 109 acres of the Farm and help to strengthen our commitment to provide recreation, education and work experience opportunities for people of all ages with special needs.

Petting Zoo
petting zoo The petting zoo helps us fulfill our mission by providing an opportunity to enjoy experiences in farming, nature, outdoor recreation and other activities. Everyone loves the Petting Zoo! Our Work Experience participants all love and care for the animals.
 
Playground and Play Field
Playground Young and old will enjoy the playground and wide open play field.  The playground is accessible to those who use mobility devices. There are two swings designed for those who use wheelchairs.
The play field is a great place to fly a kite, play games or just enjoy the scenery.

 
Sensory Room
sensory room This room is designed to provide relaxation and leisure to people of all ages with sensory, intellectual and physical disabilities. Wonderful and gentle combinations of music, light, gentle vibrations, tactile sensations and aromatherapy stimulate the primary senses. Groups can use the room for sensory stimulation, play or relaxation. Book the Sensory Room as an activity during a day visit to WindReach Farm or just on its own.
The room is also air conditioned thanks to the Oshawa West Lions Club.

 
Stable Tour
Stables Tour guides will lead groups through a visit to the stables.  Here you will meet our therapeutic horses, see the Olympic sized riding arena, learn about horses and the care of them.
 
Wagon Ride
wagonride.JPG Travel around the farm on our fully accessible wagon.  Here you may meet our cows, see what crops are planted and learn more about WindReach Farm. 

Wheelchair users can roll up our ramp and we will keep them safe by using special tie-downs. Raining, no worries the wagon has clear sides to keep you dry.

Apple Picking and Orchards
apple picking Our visitors can come and enjoy our very unique apple orchard. Not only do we have a variety of apples, but also, the orchard is comprised of dwarf trees, making even our apple orchard fully accessible. At the top of each row we also indicate what type of apple is growing in each row.

When booking tours, be sure to make apple-picking part of your visit. If you are unable to pick your own apples, we have some available in our canteen....
