WindReach Farm began nearly 20 years ago as the vision of founder Sandy Mitchell. Sandy wanted to open a fully accessible farm where visitors with special needs would feel safe and welcome and could enjoy the freedom of spending a day in a rural setting.
Many of you have stories of your visits to WindReach Farm. We encourage you to take a few moments and share them with us. More than anything else, your stories will help others appreciate what a difference WindReach makes in the lives of our visitors.
Take a moment or two to fill out this form and share your story with us. Selected submissions will be posted online and in our newsletters. If you have a picture of yourself to add, let us know. By sending the photo you are giving us permission to use your photo.
Stories and photos are selected at our discretion.
Thank you.

Our Teachers tell us
“Learning to care for horses, and how the stable works as well as the riding lessons were very
helpful and enjoyable. This was an excellent experience for staff and students and we are looking forward to a session next school year.”

Our Visitors tell us
“Being that our residents are frail, elderly, with walker and wheelchairs this atmosphere of acceptance and accessibility gave them a valued memory. It is a marvelous location, with even
raised garden beds. Our residents really enjoyed the country life and fresh air.”

Senior Associated Class - Port Perry High School tell us
“Having the opportunity to work hands-on with so many different farm animals has been wonderful. We have been able to develop our work skills as well as many social skills through these experiences.”

Our Overnight Guests tell us
“We did it (the trail) by wheelchair, drove it ourselves. We started from the bridge and kept on going till we got to the end. It makes you appreciate the beauty of nature, the sights and sounds and a feeling of peace. I’ve never experienced anything like it before.”
