WindReach Farm strives to enrich the lives of persons of all ages with disabilities and/or special needs by providing opportunities to enjoy experiences in farming, nature, outdoor recreation & other activities and to share those experiences with family and friends.
Often, the difference between a promise kept and a promise broken is planning.
For the past 19 years, since 1989, the Founder of WindReach Farm, Board members, staff, donors, volunteers and many others have been keeping a very simple promise, day after day, year after year, to an ever growing group of individuals, families and over 350 organizations. The promise to keep delivering on our mission;
It's the classic 'build it and they will come' story. Alexander J. (Sandy) Mitchell's dream was to live on a farm that would be accessible to a limited number of special needs groups. He never dreamt that demand would grow to what it is today. He has done everything possible to accommodate this growth moving his home offsite and gifting the property to WindReach Farm. WindReach Farm became a non profit organization in 1992 and has been doing everything they possibly can to continue accommodating this growth. However, the demand for access is going to continue to grow far into the future, hence the major challenge we have before us.
