Work Experience Program
work experience   The Work Experience Program is somewhat unique to WindReach Farm. It was started to provide opportunities for people with special needs to directly support a small core of WR staff. WindReach offers opportunities for individuals of all abilities to gain work and life skills on the job. In this way, social and vocational skills will be further developed, thus promoting more successful integration into the community.

If you are at least 16 years of age and do not have special needs, please click here to learn more about our volunteer program.

Work experience volunteers include high school students who participate through their school co-op program, individuals and groups of people from community living associations. The volunteers in this program come to the Farm on a regular basis for a specified length of time to help with any farm chores (including: feeding, cleaning, mucking stalls, gardening). WindReach Farm staff place a very high level of dependency on individuals in this program.
Support workers must accompany the individual with special needs when volunteering at WindReach Farm.

Highlights of our Work Experience Program include:
• Key part of our mission
• Our commitment to the participants
• Ongoing personal growth and hope for every participant
• Offering challenging tasks and opportunities
• Focus on life skills, work ethic and positive attitude
• Ongoing evaluation of work

Our Work Experience Program gives people with special needs the opportunity to do a job themselves. This gives them a sense of pride and belonging at WindReach Farm. We strive to make sure the opportunity is always there and the contribution is significant.
