About the Founder

WindReach Farm was the result of Sandy Mitchell’s life long interest to work outside on the land.  Born with cerebral palsy, Sandy was able to integrate this desire with providing a similar opportunity to other persons with disabilities. Acquiring the property in 1979, Sandy worked the land, built the buildings, and welcomed visitors from all over the province.  It was in 1989 that the Farm became the charity it is today. WindReach continues to be enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year – people of all ages and all abilities.  It is a remarkable story, but for those who know Sandy Mitchell, it is a fitting story of a generous and compassionate person.
