Joe.jpg

Joe – Hafflinger gelding. Born in 1994 in Zurich, Ontario.  Purchased by Patrick Mooney as a yearling and sent for training at a Mennonite farm near Springford, Ontario.  According to Pat, “when the farmer’s wife could hitch up Joe and drive him to church on Sunday, they knew he was ready to come back to me”. Joe also spent one summer at a summer camp near London, Ontario as the lead horse on trail rides. Donated to WindReach Farm in 2006 by Patrick Mooney.

 Max.jpg

Max – Hafflinger gelding. Born 1999.   Purchased by Patrick Mooney as a yearling and sent for training at a Mennonite farm near Springford, Ontario.  Max was used extensively that summer in the field for ploughing and cultivating. Once he returned home, he was broke to ride by the kids in Pat’s neighbourhood which shows what a gentle soul Max truly is. Donated to WindReach Farm in 2006 by Patrick Mooney.

Jorje.jpg  Jorje – Canadian Registered Norwegian Fjord gelding. Born April 5, 1996. Adopted from our sister farm in Bermuda in 2008, Jorje is thriving in our Canadian climate.  He actually loves the snow!
 Elwood.jpg

Elwood – Percheron X gelding.  Born 2005.  Free leased to the farm by Allie Lewis in loving memory of Alan Lewis.
Allie writes “My Dad always thought himself more a horseman than he truly was. As his first horse, he bought a yearling - and not just any yearling either, but a scrawny, worm infested pony-looking thing that my Dad decided was worth a chance and spent $10 more than the meat man to bring home.
I’ve never before met a horse like Elwood. That scrawny pony-looking thing grew into a beautiful and very solid horse. He’s unbelievably smart, creative, trusting and hilarious.  He makes me laugh and has touched so many people lives in such a special way and I am grateful to have him in my life. For his size he is more agile than you could ever imagine and in the winter likes to entertain himself by taking a stroll through the orchard.  How he gets under the fence I still haven’t a clue.
So even though my Dad may not have been the next up and coming horseman, he picked a great one.  I’m so proud of him.

Snooker.jpg  Snooker – Belgium, QH TB X gelding. Born 1998.  Prelim Eventer from age 5-9.  Free leased to the farm by Becky Seath. According to Becky, “Snooker is more human than horse and can always fix a bad day. He has excelled in everything that I have every asked of him...from 3-day eventing to the dressage world and now being a therapy horse. Snooker is my soul mate and I really have no words to describe my relationship with him and what an unbelievable creature he is! He is definitely one of a kind!”

Feature.jpg  Feature (Canadian Feature) – Quarter horse gelding. Competed in Western Pleasure in the States as a two-year old.  Feature’s got personality - one of the things that made Feature so special to his owner was that he used to come running when she called him – so fast she was afraid he wouldn’t be able to stop in time. He’s also quite the caretaker - as a school horse he would slow to almost a walk to help riders who were learning to ride over crossrails Free leased to the farm by Caleigh McDonald

Moon.jpg  Moon – Sorrel Tobiano miniature horse.  Born in 2005 in Wyndham Centre, Ontario. Originally destined to be the first miniature horse in the farm’s petting zoo, Moon arrived at the farm as an unbroken two-year old.  To our surprise, she was a little larger and a little less trained than required for the petting zoo but through the patience and diligence of the farm’s volunteers, she has graduated to become a valued part of our therapeutic riding program. Purchased for and donated to WindReach Farm by Patrick Mooney in 2007.

 schoolies_013.jpg

Cinders (Cendrillon) – Trakehner Canadian Sport Horse cross mare.  Born 1991 in Montreal and bought  by Kendra Flynn-Stronach as a four-year old.  Cinders returned to Montreal in 2007 but was re-purchased by Kendra in 2009 and she has free-leased Cinders to the farm for use in the riding program. Although Cinders has schooled medium level dressage, she is also a gem with our special needs riders as she stands quietly and patiently no matter how long she has to wait for her rider to be ready to ride.

Ruby.jpg  Ruby – Draft Cross.  Born 1997 in Montreal where she spent most her life as a school horse.  Was a barn-mate of Cinders and was purchased and brought to WindReach Farm by Kendra Flynn-Stronach.  Ruby is a wonderful addition to our therapeutic riding team.

Jack.jpg  Jack – Donkey.  Born 2002.  Before coming to WindReach, Jack was an Ambassador for the Alzheimer Society of Kingston. Jack’s previous owner used to take Jack on the road, visiting seniors living in residences and in particular, individuals living with Alzheimer's disease. Offering a source of comfort and unconditional acceptance, Jack is especially suited to
working with the elderly. "He is very patient with those who would like to see him and stands quietly while they reach out to touch him," says Lorraine Osborne who saved Jack from an abusive situation about three years ago. Lovingly donated to WindReach Farm by Lorraine and sponsored by Sandy and Sally Mitchell.
