JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Learning-4-Life Program Support Worker
REPORTS TO: Learning-4-Life Program Coordinator
Wage: $17.00 - $20.00

 

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Learning-4-Life Program Coordinator, the Learning-4-Life Program Support Worker is responsible for providing support to the Program Coordinator with regards to programming and delivery of the program to participants. In collaboration with the Learning-4-Life Program Coordinator, they are involved in planning, organizing, and implementing the Learning-4-Life Program, while ensuring the well-being, and promoting the development and independence of, Learning-4-Life Program participants.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with young adults with developmental and/or physical challenges;

  • Experience working in adult day programs;

  • Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Worker; Developmental Services Worker or Social Service Worker;

  • Training in CPR, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

LEARNING-4-LIFE PROGRAM PARTICIPANT SUPPORT

  • Establish a rapport and respectful relationship with Learning-4-Life Program participants and their families - recognize the participant’s strengths and abilities while promoting their dignity and well-being.

CARE OF PARTICIPANTS

  • Help with hand-over-hand assistance when needed;

  •  Guide participants to make positive decisions;

  • Ability to do physical work such as pushing wheelchairs, assisting participants with sitting, standing and bending, and helping clients engage in program activities including adaptive archery, nature walks, crafts, baking etc.;

  • Assist with the use and monitoring of special aids such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, crutches, etc.;

  • Ensure that participants are safe at all times.


LEARNING-4-LIFE PROGRAM DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION

  • In collaboration with the Learning-4-Life Program Coordinator, assist in the design, organization, and implementation of the Learning-4-Life Program at WindReach Farm;

  • Assist in the organization and preparation of the day-to-day activities within the Learning-4-Life Program;

  • Assist in the training of Learning-4-Life student interns and volunteers;

  • Assist in the general organization, upkeep, and maintenance of all Learning-4-Life Program areas.

 

OTHER RELATED DUTIES

  • Assist in other WindReach Farm program areas as required.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of various WindReach Farm special events.

  • Represent WindReach Farm off-site when required.

  • Attend Learning-4-Life and Farm wide meetings.

  • CPR and First Aid certification up to date.

  • Submission of required forms (i.e. evaluations, personal payroll, etc.)

  • Purchase materials for Learning-4-Life activities.

  • Tractor or four-wheeled vehicle training and responsibilities.

Wage:  $16.00 - $18.00

 

RELIEF STAFF

 This position will be called upon to cover Learning-4-Life staff when they are on vacation, sick or away for any reason.
