Cori Whittington - July 2021
Started 2007

Cori has been volunteering since she was a child. She volunteered in a therapeutic riding program when in university, and was immediately drawn to the Farm’s therapeutic riding program when she accompanied her students on a visit to the Farm in 2007. When she retired from teaching in 2013, she started to spend more time volunteering in the programs at the Farm.

“Cori has many skills to offer us, and we realized early on how valuable a team member she was. Cori has volunteered and worked as a part-time staff member in almost every program at WindReach, including the therapeutic riding program, Learning-4-Life, the day visit program, the horticultural therapy program, special events, and the wool program. Cori is also a CANTRA-certified therapeutic riding instructor and has instructed lessons in the riding program, and is currently a member of the Farm weekend staff team. She is wonderful!” says Volunteer and Operations Manager, Kelly Taylor.

Cori enjoys working with the people and animals that make WindReach such a wonderful, warm, and accepting place. “I have learned many new skills and learned a lot about myself from volunteering. Volunteers devote a lot of time and energy to what we do, but I know we get so much more back from the people and experiences. Long-time friendships and a sense of family and belonging here have helped me get through some difficult times in my life. I know it is the same for others,” says Cori.

Cori has experienced many heartwarming and funny moments over the years involving both the people and the animals at the Farm, however what she enjoys the most is hearing people talk about what the Farm means to them and their families. The animals have their own special way to make anyone’s day.

Thank you, Cori, for all that you do at WindReach Farm.
