EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING

Beginning October 17th, WindReach Farm will be offering Equine-Assisted Learning at our Alexander J. Mitchell Equestrian Centre. Semi-private and group spots are available for a 10-week Fall session beginning October 17 and ending December 22, 2025. Group and semi-private sessions are available. Lessons will be one hour. EAL sessions will be available on Monday and Friday evenings. Anyone interested in signing up, or who have questions about EAL, should contact stables.coordinator@windreachfarm.org. An introduction of EAL has been provided below by our new EAL instructor, Ashlyn McKinney.

My name is Ashlyn McKinney, and I am an Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) Facilitator. Having grown up around horses, I have experienced firsthand the profound impact they can have on people. I’ve seen the way horses inspire confidence, encourage self-reflection, and help individuals grow—and it’s this experience that drives my passion for sharing their lessons with others. Through EAL, I provide participants with opportunities to develop essential life skills such as communication (both verbal and non-verbal), teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and more. As a facilitator, I guide the process while allowing the horses to be the true teachers—offering honest, non-judgmental feedback that helps individuals build confidence, resilience, and stronger connections. By blending my lifelong connection to horses with a people-centered approach, I bring a unique method that inspires personal growth, strengthens relationships, and builds life skills that last well beyond the arena.
